Had to happen sooner or later .... Apple ID phishing email
« on: July 31, 2018, 06:03:23 pm »
I never thought my Apple ID was important enough to get a phishing attack.  Today, I got my first phishing email trying to get me to do an account unlock via a URL shortener.  The text was not the URL shortener, but the underlying URL definitely was.  The email looks 90% legit.  I've never seen Apple email me with my Apple ID though.  My alert emails about suspicious logins from Apple do not look like this either.

I get them from time to time but not many, my internet provider is pretty on top of such things. The wifey though? She has a hotmail account and at least once a week she asks me about an email she received.

I get them fairly frequently. I actually find them very amusing to read as the English, grammar and spelling is quite hilarious at times.

Hah yea I actually wonder sometimes if half of the ones I do get are just some smart arse somewhere clowning around because the broken English is soooo obviously bad lol!

The ones with bad english/grammar are obvious and somewhat laughable.

I will have to say that the one I got did manage to get past the spam filter.  I’ve gotten Apple ID phishing attempts against email addresses that are not used as Apple IDs.  I just barely notice them since I junk them so quickly.
