Hurricane Irma
« on: September 07, 2017, 05:14:43 am »
Prayers from Texas for all of those in harm's way.  After being glued to the coverage of Harvey, this is heartbreaking to know what is headed their way.

Because Irma is so big they are usually pretty accurate with the path a hurricane will take, but this one the cone is still the whole of Florida & it goes back & fourth in direction.  Right now they are back at it leaning East, but once it hits land who knows.

I've seen what a hurricane level 5 can do.  It looks like a gigantic bomb going off, and you can't unsee flattened homes.

We've been living in central Florida two years now, and they have only had weak hurricanes go through or tropical storms.  No one has shutters up & they don't regulate at least hurricane tint.  This house we are renting has 25 windows in it, and the cost of covering all the windows of a place we don't own is outrageous so we've done none.  Plus putting plywood involves drilling holes in a home that's not ours.  All the counties surrounding us has no school tomorrow, but ours still going.

We keep going back and fourth about leaving.  It might be nothing, but at the same time I don't think this area is prepared at all.  People at my husbands work think it's going to be nothing.  They don't understand that even if it weakens to a three once it hits our area, it's bad.  Lots of mini tornados team up with a hurricane.

Once the kids get home from school we will decide for sure. It's driving me crazy, because part of me wanted to leave yesterday, but my husband can't just not show up at work.  Today he is working remote, because I have a virus & have a fever.  This week sucks!
