June 2017 Rory's Picture Cubes
« on: June 05, 2017, 10:32:38 am »
And photobucket finally registers the new photos.  I'm still going to need to find a new app/site though.  The updated photobucket app crashes upon start and the older app I was using is going to be disabled by the next OS update.

Per request, all 3 rows in case the 1st row is too hard.  I'd post just the 1st row, but evidently even the Web access for photobucket is not working well enough for me.  Both photos give me URLs that lead to the 9 cube version.

Yes for the 9-cube version! Don't know if I can do any better, but does give my poor, feeble brain a chance.

I HATE PHOTOBUCKET!! It is a necessary evil as it is the only free site (that I know of) where you can link photos to MF. That is the only reason I use it. The Windows interface sucks, too. With my last post, I uploaded all three photos in one go. Photobucket confirmed they all uploaded. In the first attempt, only ONE of the photos uploaded multiple times. In second attempt, only one of the three uploaded. It usually takes two or three attempts to get photos uploaded. Once I got all three, I entered the three DIFFERENT URLs in MF. When I previewed, the same photo appeared three times. Arrgghhh. Back to uploading, getting new URL's assigned, replacing them in MF, previewed... finally worked. I really wish Flickr would offer the link feature.

I don't want to link the photos to my personal website for various, all security-related reasons. If you find a viable alternative, please let me know.

And for whatever reason, the linked image is now the 9 cubes from May.  *le sigh*  I'll have to check again tomorrow in hopes that it all settles down.

I may end up with an Imgur account for this instead ...

And it looks like I need to update the URL again.  Hopefully the image sticks this time.

On the flip side, this one looks MUCH easier.  Gate should be able to complete this one ASAP.

They do look "easier," but I refuse to take up skydiving.

The 1st row is a bee, a house and a sad face.  Gate had his bee photos right?  If there was a picture of the bee hive, he could also tie in the unhappy face about the current bee colony collapses.  No sky diving required.

The last row has an incident with a neighbor's son in my mind.  Very prosaic.  The son was tossing the army men with parachutes around.  I found one in the driveway in front of my house and called them to see if they were missing one.  Unfortunately, no photos of said green plastic army man.

I am so having a hard time finding a bee right now.  It seems that I should have tried to snap those photos earlier in the year.  I'll have to avail myself to the other rows (columns or diagonals) to see what I can create.  It seems the dice are not with me ...

Likewise I'm having trouble photographing the swarm. A distant shot to show them all doesn't really work, and I'm not too keen on getting in macro close either.

Do you still have your telephoto beauty? That's about as close as I would voluntarily get near a swarm.  :o

Yup I tried that one too, but they're just too small and too active to track with that monster. Apparently the bees going to and fro are all male and males don't sting so I should be ok getting in amongst them.

But having been sent to photograph a beekeeper a few years ago and getting stung three times on my scalp, I'm still wary.

I'm afraid I've given up with the bees - just doesn't make for a good photo. So I took pictures of the poppies in the back field instead using the 300mm f2.8 with 2x converter. Sorry it's not in keeping with the dice.

I'm not so sure about that Gate.  Looks to me that you are lining up photos for the middle column ... Took a walk behind the house ... I'm not sure how you'll get that middle cube though ...

*edit*
All it took was looking at the cube and drinking more coffee.  ID card for the flower?  Check.  Poppies.

Perfect!

Or maybe a postcard from the Cotswolds fits the middle cube.
Phew that's me sorted then hehe.

Love how you photographed those poppies. Bees love poppies, so I vote to give you credit on that die, too.

I'm hoping to have something to post after the weekend. Just have to get my bees in a row and my feet moving.
