STARZ : American Gods
« on: May 03, 2017, 02:18:48 pm »
Based upon the book of the same name written by Neil Gaiman.  I read the book years ago when it came out.  (I'll read almost anything written by Mr Gaiman.)  The premise is that people create their own gods.  Enough people worship at the altar of technology that there is now a god of technology.  When the Vikings came to America, they brought their gods with them.  The Egyptian gods came over when the Egyptians visited.  (Bring enough sweet water and they could sail anywhere.  Or something of that nature.)  Shadow Moon is randomly caught in the middle of the gods of old struggle to "exist" in the modern world vs the newer gods.

I caught the first episode on Sunday and it mostly matches what I recall of the novel.  There are videos of the director and producers talking about how difficult it was to make one of the scenes in episode 1 play out the same as it did in the novel.

Ah that explains why Ricky Whittle got killed off in The 100 - had a better gig come up!

Drat the video can't be viewed here.
Currently playing...umm nothing much.
TWD No-Man’s Land but getting  very bored with it very quickly.

Would still be playing We Rule and Supernauts - if the devs could be bothered.
