Dentibus Gatecon

For every birthday and anniversary, Schweetie Pie gets be some sort of flowering plant. Last birthday, he surprised me with seeds for the "toothache plant" remembering my interest when Gatecon planted them.

Note to Gatecon: I need your mango something-or-other recipe  :P
I gather the centers of the flowers will turn red when ready to eat, right?

So much for a sunny day today.
Ok admission time...my shot was taken at 5.35...unfortunately it had faded to near invisible four minutes later. Hope I'm allowed to get away with it

Selkii great shot of the electric daisies. Mine didn't turn red though, they were yellow throughout the season. I have about 15 plants growing this year but they are a long way off flowering yet.

That was the mango sorbet I think wasn't it...will track down the recipe for you.

Apparently the solstice next year is 20th June.

Gorgeous shot! Looks like an alien shooting star hitting earth. Am happy seeing you post again!

The online photos show red centers to the flower, so I've been waiting for them to turn. Do you get new seeds each year, or are they self-seeding? Or, did you harvest the seeds?

Yep new seeds this year. I don't think they self seed. Didn't really give last years a chance to find out!! The cucamelons are looking like a failure is year. I think I left them in the seed trays too long. They grew out like ivy but the stems stayed way too thin. They are now fading fast in the tub outside so may try some new seeds this week.

The rainbow was taken on the iPad. Didn't even have time to grab the Canon before it faded away.

Thanks for info! Forgot about the cucamelons. Sorry to hear they didn't make it. SP left the toothache plant to grow in the seed trays so I would get to see - and photograph - them. If he had moved them outside, I wouldn't have seen them flower as our garden is terraced and I'm not into climbing steps yet.

The rainbow shot shows how great the iPad 3 is. If only SP would let me have his.  ::)

Btw have you tried chewing on one of the electric daisies yet??? Maybe they aren't quite ripe enough yet.

Me & the hubster parked outside a welsh country pub.

Love both of your shots. The rainbow is impressive, and that sky looks so menacing! The toothache plant - a great photo, it has a sort of golden glow about it.  Useful if you have toothache too. Or if you have a sudden craving for a mango and toothache plant sorbet!

Spikeycat - Did you go into the pub? Love how your shot captured the modern against the old (or built to look old?), half timber building. Why do we...ok, I... romanticize country pubs? The only pubs I ever got to go into resembled American bars... the nice ones, of course.

Are those your bikes? What I meant to ask is, which one is yours? I'do opt for the red one!

Gatecon - haven't tried one yet. That's why I asked about the red centers. Will let you know when I do, though I really would prefer waiting to make up your mango concoction!

Yes, mine is the red one. I do think it has style, plus it's one of the few bikes I can actually reach the ground on with my short legs! Next time you're in the UK I'll take you for a spin on the back. The oldness of the building is genuine. It's a 17th century drovers inn apparently, set in stunning countryside. And yes we did go inside for a pint of locally brewed ale!

Spikey I'm sure I've been to that pub. Is it in Tintern?

Selkii your first experience of the daisy has to be chewing on one. Chew...wait ten seconds...experience!! Lol

Don is, at this moment, transplanting them into the garden (yeah, it is 9pm here, but he enjoys the cool of the evening). I have to admit...I chickened out trying one, but I will ask him to bring in a flower when he finishes. Will let you know. I'm still waiting for your recipe!
