House of Cards

Did you know that the US Netflix series is based upon a British novel by Michael Dobbs?  And that the BBC made it a mini-series back in 1990?

Francis Urquhart Novels

    House of Cards (1989)
    To Play the King (1992)
    The Final Cut (1994)

Makes me want to find the time to start watching House of Cards to see the changes to make it American.   :)

Now I need to read those books.  I haven't watched the series yet but it is in my 'to watch' list.

The English series was great! As much as I love Kevin spacey, et al, I think the English version will be my favourite

Oops, sorry, wrong thread

British version is great, but the Spacey version is a rarity...an American remake that stands on its own and is as good as the original. IMO, it is because of strong performances and a re-write that, although similar enough to the original screenplay, is far more than just a rehash with different accents.
