Well I have to share one of my favorite photos ever of my son and dog. I don't know my son's exact age but he wasn't yet one. It's a glimpse of the bond between the two of them that started the day I brought my son home and continues today!

Please PM me before sending a request through GC or Android so I know who you are! Thanks. :)

The photo of cally & the pheasant remind me of an incident a couple of years ago when on opening the back door I discovered tigger ( one of my ex cats) sitting on the doorstep side by side with a sparrow hawk! The cat looked very bemused & clearly didn't know what to make of it! They both marched through the door into the house. Fortunately I had a large packet of frozen mice in my fridge which the hawk seemed to like and nonched it's way through several of them! After resting in the house for a couple of hours it perked up and took itself back outside & flew away. Can't locate the photo at the moment on my very disorganised computer!

That's an AMAZING story!!

But...why did you have frozen mice in your freezer? ???

This is my 16-yr-old mini poodle. She has lost strength in her rear legs and has a great deal of trouble walking on hardwood floors, sometimes scooting around on her rear pulled by her front legs. Most times, I have to rescue her from being splayed out or have her spend most of her day on ceramic tile where she gets some traction.

Two days ago, I was wishing there were sneakers for dogs. Yesterday, I went to a large pet store looking for rain booties thinking, perhaps, they would give her feet traction and... There they were... Sneakers!! They had just come in that day as a brand new item! Talk about creating your own reality!!

She is now back to running around like a young pup! I think she looks cute and funny at the same time. The photo was taken minutes after putting them on (fuzzy because of low light) and she headed straight for the steps as if she knew she'd now be able to climb them -- and, she did!

Richard - adore the photos, esp. with your cat watching. I can almost hear that low, kitty growl!

EM - I'm leaning toward Ingrid's explanation.

Yeah, you guessed correctly, my son had a pet corn snake which he had for Christmas when he was about five ( dear Santa, please could I have a corn snack). Resisting the urge to wrap up a packet of monster munch we obtained one from a local pet shop. Very cute but unpleasant eating habits! I always felt so sorry for the poor mice! My boy is now 28 and it only went to Snake Heaven a few months ago. Was beginning to think it was an immortal snake (did have the Edward Cullen fangs!). At least I no longer have to keep frozen mice next to the fish fingers!

Well, the snow is not keeping the rats with good PR (aka squirrels) off the fence, based on the tracks:

We get an average of 250 inches (600+cm) of snow each winter.
