What are you reading?
« on: November 11, 2011, 08:51:32 am »
I just finished - Angelology by Danielle Trussoni.  Enjoyed it.  Miffed at the ending, but it does leave room for a sequel.

Synopsis: Follows a young nun in upstate New York who, in uncovering a correspondence between the former mother superior and Abigail Rockefeller, unwittingly reignites an ancient war between a society of angelologists (a group that studies angels) and the Nephilim (the monster-likedescendants of angels and humans). The book pulls from a variety of religious and mythical histories and, per Simonoff, "blends biblical lore, the Orpheus myth, the apocryphal Book of Enoch and the fall of the rebel angels, with bravura storytelling.

Apparently they are making a movie based on the book.

Just finished Fallen Dragon by Peter F Hamilton.  It was a bit of a shock to read such a short book by him - what a stand alone, not a trilogy?

I'm reading Pale Demon by Kim Harrison. I love the Hollow books ;D

If you like the supernatural, kick-TellySavalas women and a funny story, this is for you.

I'm reading Jo Nesbø's the Snowman. If you like Stieg Larsson, Henning Mankell or similar (or Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly), you'll like Nesbø. Norwegian noir.

I'm almost done with A Clash of Kings, the second book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, which is the basis of the HBO series Game of Thrones. I'm not usually into medieval warfare and fantasy stuff, but my mom got me to watch the show and I fell in love with the storytelling and the characters. It is a great epic tale, mostly about power struggles, but with a smidge of fantasy thrown in. And ZOMBIES!  :D

Okay, just a few zombies, but still, ZOMBIES! :D

I wanted to include the one I finished before Angelology, which I thought was really great.   The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gargoyle_(novel)

Extremely discriptive and not for the squeamish type which describes in detail an accident victim being burned.

I'm thinking about picking up this series.  I got into watching Game of Thrones and enjoyed it.

As much I enjoyed the tv series, I think the books are even better. Definitely worth the read. I am staying up WAY too late at night because I'm so engrossed in the story. :)

I did manage to read the last Harry Potter book in 16 hours straight though.

OK, now I'll have to pick up the books. I loved the first season of Game of Thrones and am really looking forward to the next.

Definitely! Finished the first four last week... I'm halfway through Dance with Dragons now. . . Cheaper (by $4 I think) to buy it in Kindle than in iBooks. Love the whole series!

Currently on The Last Oracle by James Rollins.
Not decided if it will be Andy McDermott or David Gibbins (Mask of Troy) next
Currently playing...umm nothing much.
TWD No-Man’s Land but getting  very bored with it very quickly.

Would still be playing We Rule and Supernauts - if the devs could be bothered.
