Question for anyone reading/read AND watching/watched: how far along in the show (episode#) before the 1st book is completed and how far along till the 2nd book is completed. It's a shame that there's probably no way to continue the series once all the books are covered. That is, without losing is charm.

First season of the show is the first book.  Second season is the second book.  I think that is your question, lol.

Lol
That would've been easier but I wanted to sound smart. Plus you got a chance to spam the board again ;) I actually thought that they'd string it out longer, like half a book one season. But I guess that might be too slow a pace for a viewer. Thx Doug

While I haven't verified first-hand*, my understanding from things I've read online is that there may have been some liberties taken with the sequencing of chapters of the books in the conversion to episodes. I've read suggestions, for example, that things from the first book have been postponed to the second season and things from the second book were pulled forward into the first season. Moreover, an author's note at the beginning of the fifth book describes some chronological tinkering, so I suspect that, at a minimum, that may affect, or be rearranged in, future seasons. Therefore, I don't think the entire series is going to cleanly track book by book, season by season.

* My memory is short, the books were long, dark, full of terrors and read over a considerable span of time, and I'm just enjoying the ride where the show is concerned.
Having a conversation with Plehk is "tortuous"* - ukhippo

*Or something to that effect. ;)

This is true.  Since I'm only on the second book, I noticed somethings in the second book already happened in the first t.v. season.

I just watched all the episodes and all caught up now; I had never seen the show until a week ago and watched both Season 1 & 2.  I really like the show a lot and can't wait for Season 3 to start at the end of March!

Quote
The season will premiere on 31 March, 2013.

Season 3 will be based on A Storm of Swords, the third novel in the Song of Ice and Fire books by George R.R. Martin. However, whilst the first two seasons roughly corresponded to the first two books, the sheer length of the third novel (almost half again the length of the first by word count) makes this impossible. As a result, the events of the novel will be split over the third and a potential fourth season. Some events from the third novel were also moved into the final episodes of the second season to help facilitate this.

I still haven't watched any episodes at all, but planning to have a Netflix blitz over Christmas. Was thinking of watching an episode then reading up to that place in the book but that sounds too much like hard work to bother, so just the episodes it is.
Currently playing...umm nothing much.
TWD No-Man’s Land but getting  very bored with it very quickly.

Would still be playing We Rule and Supernauts - if the devs could be bothered.

You have no idea what you're missing! I watched both seasons in 3 nights! I was hooked right away and the wait has been toooooooo looooooong. On a side note, I don't see it on Netflix on this side of the pond. Do you have it available now on Netflix?

This is where I caught on the series...very awesome site.  The vk site videos can be watched on mobile devices (I watched them all on my iPad)...

Episode 1 watched!

As you may know, let some of the video load up before watching it so you're not waiting for it to buffer/load up the next bit of footage... ;)

I like to watch the show on demand when I visit my mom, but we have to keep turning it off whenever the grandkids come in the room. So many boobs! :o
