This to me... is like what it was for the generation before me when the beetles and queen suffered their losses. I grew up with these guys, rest in peace my friend and well thoughts to the family and friends.

I agree. This is hitting me harder than the usual celebrity death. Various Beastie Boys tracks have been on constant circulation at so many times in my life. And Adam Yauch was a genuine renaissance man with all kinds of projects that I've appreciated. What a sad sad loss to his friends, family, and us.

+1 to what everyone said. It's finally our generations turn to see our favorite performers slowly dissapear.

At least he had the knowledge of getting into the hall of fame before he went.

Too young to die! I have always loved their stuff, and liked how most of their videos didn't have much money spent on them.. even their more recent ones.

NPR has broadcast an amazing and emotional series of interviews with him over the years. If you haven't had the chance to hear them, here's today's program, a sampling of those interviews:

However, if you're a big fan, I would highly recommend going back and listening to all of the interviews (links found on the page.)

He was, and still is, one of my favourite authors. Brought me much joy every time I read or remembered his books.  I still know big chunks of where the wild things are by heart
